the best day trips from spiez
A Creative Way to Enjoy the Bern Holiday Region.

Anyone spending their holiday on beautiful Lake Thun will find a wealth of things to see and do in and around Spiez. Especially in winter, however, those staying a little longer will find it well worth taking a day trip or two to explore the wider region.
Cheese Fondue Float in Interlaken
Dipping bread into hot cheese is something you can do almost anywhere in Switzerland. But on Lake Brienz, you can enjoy your fondue on a floating raft. While your guide paddles, Switzerland’s national dish is prepared and served right on board – including white wine, tea and mineral water. To keep you warm and cosy during the 1.5-hour tour, thick blankets are also provided. Meeting point & booking: OUTDOOR – Jetboat Base, Bönigen.
Spiez – Bönigen, See: approx. 35 minutes by public transport.
Spooky Adventures in Bern
When it comes to guided city tours, Bern is particularly creative. The “Spooky Bern for Children” tour, for example, takes young ghost hunters on an exciting, child-friendly adventure through Bern’s winding streets. For older fans of eerie tales, the “Night Watchman Tour” is an ideal choice. Bern’s night watchman offers fascinating insights into medieval life after dark and shares some of the city’s sinister legends. Booking: Bern Welcome.
Spiez – Bern: approx. 35 minutes by train.
Something New for Families in Adelboden
A new highlight at the Adelboden Leisure and Sports Arena is the Vogellisi Family Experience. The legendary Bernese Oberland character from Annemarie Stähli’s story “Vogellisi and the King of the Skies” is brought to life on a lovingly designed journey in Swiss German for visitors of all ages. At nine interactive stations, visitors can immerse themselves in Vogellisi’s world. Booking: Adelboden Leisure and Sports Arena.
Spiez – Adelboden Mühleport: approx. 45 minutes by public transport.

Follow Your Nose to Fondueland Gstaad
Whether on foot, skis or snowshoes, everyone can find their own way to the destination in Fondueland Gstaad. The reward is quite literally a giant culinary experience. You can enjoy the fondue you have brought with you while sitting inside an enormous outdoor fondue caquelon. The ingredients – cheese mixture including fondue bread, spices, caquelon, rechaud with fuel paste, plates and forks – are carried in a nostalgic fondue backpack. The backpack can be ordered for two or more people the day before from various dairies in the region, including Schönried, Gstaad, Zweisimmen, Gsteig, Saanen and Abländschen. Simply search online for “Fondueland Gstaad”.
Spiez – Gstaad: approx. 80 minutes by train.
Tobogganing Adventures in the Jungfrau Region
Two toboggan runs in the Jungfrau Region are particularly recommended. The scenic Sulwald – Isenfluh – Lauterbrunnen route begins with a cable car ride from Isenfluh to Sulwald. After stopping for refreshments at the Sulwaldstübli, the approximately 4 km descent follows the forest road at a leisurely pace back to Isenfluh. When snow conditions are good, the ride can be extended by another 3.5 km along the old Isenfluh road to Lauterbrunnen.
Spiez – Isenfluh: approx. 35 minutes by car or 75 minutes by public transport.
